Suite 709
Listen to Life Won't Let You Down
Suite 709 is a Mo-town influenced Soul/Indie Pop group based in Austin, TX. Recently featured in Rolling Stone and Billboard Magazine, the band's latest independent release, "Night & Day" debuted at #13 on the R&B/Soul iTunes Charts, was featured in an International Google commercial, and charted to #9 on 93.3 KGSR in Austin before entering regular rotation on stations across the country.
Suite 709 played their first public shows during SXSW 2010 with no recordings, press, or even band photos; yet, the band's exuberant live shows quickly earned them multiple accolades including “Top 10 New Bands of 2010" from the Austin Chronicle Music Awards, “Top 35 Bands of 2011" Do512.com, “Best Find at SXSW 2011" from QRO Magazine, “Hot 100 Unsigned Bands of 2011" from Music Connection Magazine, and most recently “Top 5 Soul/Blues Bands of 2012" in the Austin Chronicle Music Awards alongside notable acts Gary Clark Jr. and Black Joe Lewis and the Honeybears. Platinum Producer Dwight Baker (Kelly Clarkson, Bob Schneider, Blue October) caught wind of the band in early 2011, and fans quickly funded a Kickstarter campaign to record the band’s debut EP “Keys” release 7.09.11.
Exactly one year later, the group released their first full length album "Night & Day" 7.09.12, which debuted at #13 on the iTunes R&B/Soul Charts, and have been touring nationally packing out shows from their hometown of Austin, Texas to NYC. They also continue to develop a strong national and international following (over 450,000) through their innovative use of social media outlets such as Google+, YouTube, Twitter, and Facebook, for which they were featured in Rolling Stone and Billboard Magazine.
Renown for their wild live performances, critics never fail to highlight the soaring vocals of front man Jirod Greene, who repeatedly lands in the "Top 10 Male Vocalists" in the Austin Chronicle Music Awards. Top pop critic, Joey Guerra - Houston Chronicle, says," The group was a vibrant highlight during last month’s Free Press Summer Fest, showcasing strong melodies and slick musicianship during a sweltering, midafternoon set. Greene has a vocal blend that recalls Lenny Kravitz and Adam Levine on standout tunes “Heartache (Won’t Let Me Go),” “She Don’t Even Know” and new single “Life Won’t Let You Down,” which seems designed for arena singalongs."
The band also often draws comparisons to L.A. based Fitz and the Tantrums and U.K. based The Heavy, and even a more authentic, raw, and soulful Maroon 5.
Reviewers repeat, “Words cannot describe a Suite 709 performance experience.” -Jenny Baker, USA Today. "Every show is like a party from beginning to end. Greene’s ability to connect with audiences combined with the band’s blend of R&B, Soul, and old school Rock-N-Roll creates a sound reminiscent of Motown’s mega-pop group The Jackson 5 to modern day R&B superstar John Legend, with a touch of James Brown’s flare. Together, Greene (vocals), Dietrich Schmidt (keys), David Butler (guitar), Drew Walters (bass) & Zach Boston (drums) bring a new flavor of soul to music lovers, young and old."
