Roge
Roge represents the new generation of artists of the Brazilian Popular Music and his sound is the face of Brazil. He moves from bossa nova to samba and reggae, with the property of who composes for himself, proposing to create a fusion of all these rhythms and bringing forth a unique sound.
He has released three solo works ("Rogê" in 2003, "Brasil em Brasa" in 2008 and "Fala Geral" in 2010), and over the years and the gaps between a disk and another sought differences and purity of each rhythm working at the intersection, the point at which the noise references intertwine and add to a pace that synthesizes, merging references. His music is so unique and appealing and stands out for its excellence sound, away from the mass culture industry.
Roge also maintains a project with the group called ‘4 Cabeca’. They are four musicians / composers / singers who come together eventually in acoustic shows, only with guitars and voices. Formed by Luis Carlinhos, Baia, Gabriel Moura and Roge, this meeting of the musicians created a CD that was awarded the 2010 Brazilian Music Award, for best group of MPB.
IN 2011 Roge took his music to the USA for the very first time. He was invited to play at the SXSW Music Festival in Austin, TX, where he had the chance to meet and play with other musicians (Bernie Williams was his special guest in the show) and also distribute his music – nowadays there are several radio stations all around the US playing ‘A Nega e o Malandro’, one of his musics.
This year Roge is also recording a new album, full of Brazilian popular music and samba with swing, aside the great Brazilian musician and producer KASSIN. The album will be released in Brazil and in the USA in 2012.
