Voice is used as an instrument, words are just sounds, and all is part of a greater project like a mini-version of a total artwork. At the same time she develops a graphic world in the same atmosphere, which later evolves with the songs as they are created.
The low-fi expression of an urgent feeling ------- A search begins for folks with the same passion for playing fast. And suddenly! Ignition. Using a keytar as the sonic nucleus, CIKATRI$ creates a relentlessly frenetic blast of songs that mix French sixties with Swedish garage punk and the rawer sounds of eighties synth. Pressed and released in December 2011 on Sax Records and capturing the band’s early and energetic birth, the first EP "CIKATRI$ m'a tuer" blasted onto record players across Stockholm. In 2012 the band played around Stockholm focusing their sound while opening for bands such as Hellshovel, Crash Normal, Ziphs, and culminating in an invitation to perform at Trästock festival in Northern Sweden along with an acoustic session on Hammock sessions.
More songs, more shows ------- The second EP "Oui le deux non non non" shows the group with a bit more detail in production and composition, but the same emergency in expression. It is jointly released in April 2013 on Sax Records & Rundgång Rekords (Malmö), and soon joins the first EP on record stores' shelves and distros accross Europe and USA.
Months go by and more songs pour out of the keytar. "Quand me réveillerai-je ?", first song off CIKATRI$’ third record "Aïe ! le trois", was featured in April 2014 on La Souterraine, a free French underground pop compilation, with the video for this song premiering on Noisey Scandinavia in May 2014. "Aïe ! le trois" was released and pressed as double-7" in December 2014.
The live cast of the band includes members of Swedish bands Isobel & November, Holograms, RAS and Henry Fiat's Open Sore, and CIKATRI$ is featured in the Music Conference programmation at SXSW 2015.
