"Innocence and old soul. Fiery, then cool. Reluctant and, all at once, beguiling. Frye carries an intense passion and delivery in her voice that is well beyond her years." -KUT Austin
"Frye's EP is solid back to front...Fate is bringing success and it's time for her to be found." NBC-DFW.COM
Jessie Frye is 23 years old and based in Denton, TX. She became home schooled at the age of 12 and started taking classical piano. During her teenage years the inspiration to write music came from her early musical influences- The Cure, Tori Amos and T. Rex (to name only a few), as well as her literary idols Oscar Wilde and Anais Nin.
Her first EP titled The Delve (2008) was a strong first effort into the musical world. It was deemed as "smart pop" by the Dallas Observer and earned her a coveted invitation to perform at South By Southwest in 2009. It was then that she formed her band.
In 2010 the band was hard at work recording their latest release, Fireworks Child (April 2011). Frye worked with indie producer John Congleton (St. Vincent, Polyphonic Spree) on the new material as well as mixing engineer Joe McGrath (Ryan Adams, BB King, Green Day). The record received critical acclaim from local and national critics.
2012 has started off with a bang. Frye has been working on special collaborative projects with other artists, as well as a music video with the official 35 Denton Conferette. With summer tours in the works and new songs being written, Jessie Frye looks forward to a big year.
Jessie Frye has opened for artists such as Pat Benatar, Katie Herzig,Julianna Barwick, Tracy Bonham, Joan As Police Woman, Eric Hutchinson and Anais Mitchell. She has showcased at SXSW 2009-2012 as well as Denton's 35 Conferette 2009-2012.
