Betsy Kingston & the Crowns
Based in the bustling music town of Athens, GA, Betsy Kingston & the Crowns is Betsy Kingston, Joseph Dinnan, Bill, Baker, Rackley Davis, and a rotating cast of regional talent.
Kingston’s vocal styling is reminiscent of KT Tunstall, Ryan Adams, Norah Jones, and Janis Joplin, while Dinnan’s guitar riffs have been compared to those of Neil Young. Kingston’s mighty voice drips with whiskey and rattles with gravel, only to shift gears at a moment’s notice, revealing a subtle vulnerability and twang. The Crowns further this push/pull dynamic with powerful rock riffs and impromptu solos, balanced by alt-country restraint.
Kingston and Dinnan have been touring since August 2011, including Washington, DC; Manhattan, NY; New Orleans, LA; Houston, Austin and Dallas, TX; as well as numerous cities across the southeast. Following the Blue Laws album release, Betsy Kingston & the Crowns departed Athens for the Savannah Stopover Festival, and continued to Austin, TX for this year’s South By Southwest (SXSW) Music Conference and Festival.
With the February 6th release of the much-anticipated album, Blue Laws, 2012 finds Betsy Kingston & the Crowns growing to regal heights.
