Monsieur Perine
Monsieur Periné, more than a musical group, it’s a creative project that was born out of the artistic and rhythmic exploration undertaken by Catalina Garcia, Santiago Prieto, Nicolas Junca and Camilo Parra in 2007. Today our project has grown and we have the talent of three new members: Fabián Peñaranda, Miguel Guerra and Daniel Chebair on the drums.
We are seven young Colombians living in Bogotá. Our musical approach consists of an ensemble with rhythms and instruments from the Jazz Manouche, French adaptation of the American swing of the 30’s forged by gypsy guitarist Django Reinhardt, and the popular Latin American music – such as the bolero, samba, son cubano, cumbia, currulao, raspa and Tango. This exploration has allowed us to create a unique concept that already has its own label: “Suin a la Colombiana”
As part of this creative and musical experiment, we have included instruments ranging from the guitar, the violin, the western concert flute, the ronroco, the charango, the gaida, the melodica or key-flute, percussion instruments, the torpedo scraper, among others that even today we are still exploring and incorporating into our mix of sounds and emotions that are part of a genre without precedent in Colombia, the “Suin a la Colombiana” of Monsieur Periné.
