Canailles
Canailles started off in Parc Lafontaine during summer 2009. At first six musicians from really different backgrounds would meet up there to improvise their own versions of bluegrass, country and blues standards. Their love story took a whole new level after a couple of months, and they started writing their own songs in French Quebecois joual, crafting a sound that would be all their own, a crazy mix of cajun, zydeco, country, blues, bluegrass, ragtime and rock garage. After raking #3 at the 2011 Francouvertes finals, Canailles is now a group of 7 self-taught hyperactive musicians, who graduated from whisky nights and who performed everywhere in Quebec during summer 2011, namely at Montreal’s FrancoFolies, in Saguenay and Gaspésie.
