Beating the Heat: How Tree Equity Is the Issue of Our Time

Date TBA

Extreme heat kills more people in the U.S. than any other weather or climate disaster, with disproportionate effects on low-income and BIPOC communities. Communities of color on average have 38% less tree cover and are 10°F hotter than mostly white communities. Government, public health, and Latino/a/x community organizing leaders will share how they are addressing this crisis of “tree inequity” to cool neighborhoods and save lives. They will call for urgent investments in urban forests and mobilizing frontline and BIPOC communities to achieve climate and health justice, one tree at a time.
