Research shows that how suicide is portrayed in media coverage and entertainment influences the health outcomes of those who are vulnerable. Responsible portrayals can encourage people at risk to seek help; sensationalist depictions can pose risk and lead to contagion. In the face of the global mental health crisis, Dr. Christine Yu Moutier, the Chief Medical Officer of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention; actress, social justice advocate, and suicide loss survivor Ashley Judd; and Dave Richards of Audacy will discuss how to harness the influence of media and culture to save lives.
