Guyana is the #1 fastest growing country in the world. It is having a meteoric rise. While Guyana is an oil-producing country with a series of exciting projects underway, it is already at net zero status with its 90% preserved forests.
Even so, the government continues to be committed to ensuring the reduction of carbon emissions by 70% by 2030 with the “Low Carbon Development Strategy 2030.” Guyana continues to aggressively invest in clean-energy innovation and diversify its sustainable energy mix to help transition from oil to solar, wind, hydro, biomass, hydrogen, and other cleaner forms of energy. Can Guyana navigate its way out of the feared resource curse? Can Guyana, a forest country, become a beacon of green energy hope for the UN Climate Group? Many are betting on it!
