Quantum Computing for Design and Social Good

Quantum computers are expected to advance solutions to challenges in diverse aspects of human life. With these developments come critical questions about access, ethics, and inclusion. In 2019, IBM approached The New School with a question: how could the company's emerging quantum computing technology be integrated into creative arts, applied to purposes of social good? Over the next two years, through university courses and a first-of-its-kind Quantum Design Jam with IBM Quantum Experts, New School students, researchers, and faculty gained early access to IBM's revolutionary technology. The university community has created prototypes related to art, design, education, and business, helping to weave creativity and social justice into the fabric of quantum capabilities.
