Overdose: 7 Elements to Fixing the Opioid Crisis
Three moms devastated by the opioid crisis have become experts in opioid misuse, prevention, addiction and recovery. An angel mom who made a vow to her child when she was found overdosed, naked on her bedroom floor. A second who cares for people suffering with addiction on the streets of Miami in memory of her son. Third, a trained Emergency Management Technician with an adult child in recovery. Together they will explain the “7 essential pieces of the puzzle” to heal the epidemic and how each part is integral in collaborating for a solution. Critical components involve understanding adverse childhood experiences; substance use prevention; research, innovation & data; harm reduction & user health; treatment & recovery; policy & justice; and health systems & providers all working together.
