Cannabis in Canada: What We’ve Learned

Please be aware that cannabis and related laws vary. Programming in this track is designed to inform attendees about this fast-changing industry, and does not promote the use or sale of illegal drugs.

Canada became the first country in the G20 to legalize recreational cannabis in October 2018 — a massive public policy shift for the country, implemented via a patchwork of varied municipal, provincial and federal laws. More than a year later, how have local economies been shaped by legalization? How are producers innovating, especially with the more recent legalization of cannabis edibles and concentrates? What have national cannabis retailers learned about working with varied provincial regulations? How is law enforcement adapting? At this panel, Leafly, Spiritleaf, Tilray, and 48North will illuminate the evolving landscape from the perspectives of technology, production, retail and public policy, and what other countries can learn from their experiences.
