Sports Access: Public Right-to-Know vs Exclusivity

Mar 10, 2018

2:00pm – 3:00pm CT

Recording: Sports Access: Public Right-to-Know vs Exclusivity, Mar 10, 2018

There is a constant tension in sports media between a sports event or athlete wishing to protect and monetize their rights versus the need for the public to know about important events and people, both from a general awareness and public interest 'right-to-know' perspective (FIFA scandal, etc), and to provide the 'oxygen of publicity' to that sport or athlete. A panel of news and sports rights agencies, sports media owners and journalists will discuss this conundrum. What balance to strike?
