PROTOPEOPLE
A prototype is the first mold of anything that exists. Originality is an endangered species. We´ve heard many times that there is nothing new under the sun. But we have a unique voice, one that proposes through provocation. Protopeople is a Mexican duet that offers a compelling and strong live show, with a lot of stamina and energy, combining diverse influences in order to generate a style of their own. From electronic rhythms and drum n´ bass, to heavy hardcore sounds, black music and a eerie aesthetic, Renata & Leonardo make the best out of programming, live beat boxes, Korg Electribes and Maschine, and combine it organically with guitars, synths and voices to create the "protopeopleian" realm: a creative amalgam of sounds that proposes an exciting narrative, elements that cast a purposeful work, cutting edge; music without routine contemplations or liabilities with the status quo. A powerful and radical musical message that moves the listener to the guts and transports him/her to a world of frenetic possibilities. With five years playing live and a history of excellent comments and experiences in the stages of México City, they´ve captured the attention of people and succeeded in what many fail: to propose something original. Now independent and on the verge of presenting their second album in 2016, "Death & Art", Protopeople´s first official album was launched in 2013 under Discos Intolerancia label, a debut album that turned people heads and made their strong stand in the Mexican scene. Also creators of artistic visual pieces for their music with Protocrisis, the creative visual combo that generates the imagery of the band which at moments generates an harmonic discord in the spectator due to the plastic and a the conceptualization of the ego as the enemy to defeat, stimulating so the intellect of the listener with visuals that go from the terrible to the sublime, from contranatura to divine design.
