The Bizarros
The Bizarros formed in the early '70s in Austin, playing clubs like Bevo's, the Split Rail, Soap Creek Saloon and Rome Inn. They played every Friday at the Hole in the Wall starting in '74, and then in '77 moved to the Continental Club on Friday nights when the club first added live music. Lead singer Michael "Moondog" Bellamy, drummer Bill "Wild Brew" Bentley, rhythm guitarist Stan "Rock" Coppinger and bassist Miller "Speedy" Sparks still perform irregularly. Former guitarists Ike Ritter and Sterling Morrison are deceased, and guitarist-in-exile Bill Campbell lives in Smithville. The Bizarros spent many wild nights basking in the glow of Sir Douglas Sahm and his San Antonio hermanos Roky Morales and Richard "Eh Eh" Elizondo. Vamonos!
