Runway Richy, born in New Orleans, and raised in Decatur, GA since age 5, has an infectious southern hip hop sound sure to make waves in the streets and on the air.
The moment you realize he is more than a rapper, is the moment in life where music is just more than sound and words spoken by a future phenomenon. His lyrical swag is prophesied in the streets of Atlanta, also known as a hood prophet.. I had the pleasure to speak with this enthused prodigy. I had to know what was his motivation and in return he responded with one word “Life”. Now everyone has ups and downs but what about his life that was so different that when his words touched a mic it was history in the making? The moment you realize he is more than a rapper, is the moment in life where music is just more than sound and words spoken by a future phenomenon. His lyrical swag is prophesied in the streets of Atlanta, also known as a hood prophet.. I had the pleasure to speak with this enthused prodigy. I had to know what was his motivation and in return he responded with one word “Life”. Now everyone has ups and downs but what about his life that was so different that when his words touched a mic it was history in the making? He further explains in his adolescent years in rapping and being a part of a group called ” Born Wit It” and after 6 years he came to the conclusion that this road laid forth he must travel alone.
Throughout his travels along came street life something he had trouble with separating from. This young guy endeavored many deaths of his friends, surrounding high speed chases, and shoot outs. Not ashamed to share his triumphs but motivated to succeed for his loved ones lost. Like thunderstruck, he began to work harder than ever before on his lyrical creations and before he could share with the world, Runway Richy found himself in a world where he wasn’t able to express his creativity freely. Yes he served time in jail but I believe that only made him stronger. In his recent song “Letter 2 God” he stated in his hook “Hand written letter on the way to God, did a lot of wrong know my life was hard, son of a beast, pops was a killa, wonder why I turned out to be a real n*gga”. In every lyric you can hear and feel his self struggle and revelation of what was his future to become. After he set foot in the outside world, he took being an Atlanta rapper to a higher level exceeding his predecessors in such a short time. With his upcoming project “ForeignMerican ” Runway Richy continues to defeat shows and contest contending with Atlanta’s elite. Richy’s single “*Keep Getting It*” produced by Concept Music truly celebrates the artist whose style has been described as a southern Meek Mill with a mix of Boosie.
With everything he has accomplished no one is complete without a team and for years he has had ” The Commission” a very well known movement by Dj Holiday backing him all the way to the top. I believe life’s experiences can either make you or break you. Kahil Gibran once said, “Out of suffering have emerged the strongest souls; the most massive characters are seared with scars”. Runway Richy carries the scar of success. There is no where to go but up from here. We look forward to Runway Richy’s body of work as he shares his trails of life through his music.
