Pia Zapata is a four piece band from the port of Valparaiso, Chile. Beginning in 2010 as a solo act, the project evolved by mixing experimental sounds with rock, catchy melodies and a powerful voice with strong roots from the south of Chile. The band is full of colors and images bringing together themes of daily life with raw emotion.

Pia Zapata originally began as a solo artist but has been playing as a full band for the past two years. Pia is from Chillan, a small rural town in Chile with a long tradition in Chilean folk music. It wasn't until Pia moved to Valparaiso when she began to compose and perform as a duo with acoustic guitar and drum set. As the sound developed bass and electric guitar were later incorporated.

In 2011, Pia Zapata released her first LP Musica de Mimbre.
In the past year the project Pia Zapata has played numerous shows outside of Valparaiso, in the capitol of Santiago, Chillan and Puerto Montt as well as all of the major venues in Valparaiso.
In June of 2014, Pia Zapata was invited to play on the main stage of the Municipal Theater of Valparaiso for the festival, Temporales, where they recorded two live videos. The band is currently working on recording their next highly anticipated LP.
