A trio from Santiago which started in 2008 and has conquered the dance floors of their city of origin. MKRNI ́s music slides easily when the body ́s moving, the mixture of three personalities with different backgrounds and influences make them a unique proposal. Marcelo Peña (Miopec), music producer, member of the experimental band Tobías Alcayota, Sebastían Roman, producer and prominent DJ of the scene, and Elisita Punto, who comes from the Brooklyn punk rock scene and is also a visual artist.
MKRNI ́s music has quickly taken up their revolutionary musical heritage, which references to pop and electronic. The band has always proposed novelty and their style has changed within the years, in 2009 they launched their first album Maca & Roni Deluxe, Jumper (2010), then Playa Futuro (2012) published under the label Hueso Records (NY). Now they come back to surprise with their latest production Canciones (2014).
Their connection with the dance floor made them launch two collections of remixes in which they have collaborated with people like V.Sanfuentes, Djs Pareja, Alejandro Paz, among others. In 2013 the label Multi Culti (Montreal), part of Turbo Recording, published a special selection of remixes called Pongi Pongi.
Regarding the subject matters the band explores, there ́s the reaction to the body, the delivery of rhythm together with enveloping vocals and lyrical themes, a powerful synth sound, and dance rhythms. On their live show MKRNI has already conquered the USA, Europe, Brasil, and Mexico, sharing the stage with artists such as: Hercules & Love Affair, Miss Kittin, Art Department, Kim Ann Foxman, Sky Ferreira, among others. They have also been part of Boiler Room and festivals like Creamfields, SXSW, Festival Nrmal, Primavera Fauna, and Mihoes de Festa.
This year they are presenting their fourth production Canciones, a different bet to what they were used to produce, an album that explores a more organic sound and popular composition. A new challenge facing pop and romance without leaving the dance floor aside.
