The Cozinheiros are led by guitarist, vocalist, songwriter and studio wizard Marcelo Fruet, who has won multiple honors including an Açorianos award for Producer of the Year and Best Original Soundtrack at the Gramado Film Festival. The Cozinheiros’ second disc, *AIÓN*, made multiple best-of-the-year lists in Brazilian newspapers, alongside such artists as Caetano Veloso and Leonard Cohen. It has been nominated for the Prêmio Açorianos de Música and was recently considered to the Latin Grammy Awards nomination for best Brazilian Rock Album, Best New Artist and Best Engineered Album. Fruet’s songs have also appeared on *Big Brother Brazil*, one of the country’s highest-rated shows.
The band has played many venues across the country and abroad. Internationally, let's say they started the *AIÓN* tour in Japan, playing KMC festival plus 8 more shows in Osaka, Tokyo and Sapporo. They also performed a tour over 14 venues across USA, including places such as Arlene’s Grocery (NYC), William & Mary University (Williansburg - VA) and Eddie’s Attic (ATL). They already played in CMJ Music Marathon NYC festival as well.
