Mexican Institute of Sound

8764

Founder of the band Mexican Institute of Sound, Camilo Lara has make his way over an expanding niche on the international music scene over the last years. He mixes traditional Mexican folk styles with electronica, hip-hop and even Bollywood sounds. The project is not only on dance floors, but also on television, film soundtracks, commercials and video games.

He has collaborated with movies like "Y Tu Mamá También", "Déficit","Rudo y Cursi" and series like "Breaking Bad", "Scrubs", "Californication", among others.

After being head of EMI Music record label for several years, Camilo decided to start his own company with some other associates offering different musical services.

“With a pair of emcees [at Coachella], of whom Lara is one, two deejays, bass and
drums, M.I.S. obliterated the rhythmic sameness that sinks a lot of U.S. hip-hopacts. Their songs fuse thunderous beats enlivened by real-time Latin percussive accents, lyrics en español, polka, norteño, mariachi, punk, disco and rock flavors.”
- LOS ANGELES TIMES

“Camilo is a real connoisseur of music who knows about all kinds of weird stuff.”
- MIKE D. / BEASTIE BOYS
