Viet Cong
VIET CONG
Stylistically, the Calgary based four-piece Viet Cong fuses together the unique talents of its individuals, capturing a fusion of the melodies you would find in the heart of 1960’s pop combined with the unhinged experimentation of late 70’s and early 80’s post-punk. Through experimentation —whether through inventive recording techniques, improvisation or a blending of genres— the band is actively working to create something fresh and exciting.
Matt Flegel and Michael Wallace have been playing music since childhood. Together they formed their previous band Women and released two highly regarded albums — now revered by many as classics. Matt’s songwriting partner is Scott Munro, who has played with Chad Vangaalen, and Daniel Christiansen rounds out the band having played guitar with acts like The Sharp Ends.
Coming off the heels of a two month North American tour, the band are releasing their sold-out tour cassette as an EP on Mexican Summer & Flemish Eye this Spring. They are currently putting the finishing touches on their debut full-length album.
