The story of Eshon Burgundy begins on the streets of Philadelphia. Around the age of five Eshon’s teenage mother took him along with his younger brother Seifuddin and fled the home of her abusive boyfriend. As a small family unit they moved around Philadelphia seeking a fresh start. After short stays with family, drug addict friends and close to a year in a shelter they ended up in south Philadelphia, living in a housing development project called Passyunk Homes. This high risk and dangerous environment would prove to be a training ground for Eshon, one on which he would later see his friends killed and even a few vicious attempts on his own life.
At the age of fifteen Eshon was shot three times and according to doctors came within 60 seconds of his life. After surviving this nearly fatal incident his desire to know the God his mother often spoke about increased. Four years later through faith and confession he received the salvation of Jesus Christ and began serving full-time at his local church in south Philadelphia.
Soon, Eshon Burgundy’s focus in life became clear his longtime affinity for music would be coupled with his new found love for the God of Heaven. Borrowing his aggressive and passionate flow from his inner-city roots he now shares his perspective on life with all who will listen, a perspective gained through prayer and Biblical study.
Today, after 14 years of actively pursuing the heart of God, Eshon has a beautiful wife (Tandeace) and three young children (Harlem, Evyr and Kinsington) and currently lives in Keller, TX.
His music is full of passion and depth, his slightly raspy voice along with his poetic thought provoking lyrics will speak to the heart of any listener.
Through out his career Eshon has released 9 projects and recorded original songs with famed producers: Jazzy Jeff(Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince) Karriem Riggins(Slum Village & Common) Runway Star(Producer of the Platinum selling song (“Teach me how to Dougie”) and more!!!
Eshon is a rapper/producer/director and has performed on stages all over the USA, CANADA, UK w/ Mos Def/Roy Ayers/The Roots/Alicia Keys/Talib Kweli/Jazmine Sullivan & more!!!
Since his debut on Jazzy Jeff’s “Return of the Magnificent” album he’s featured on more than 50 albums and mixtapes, including his most recent feature on The Snowgoons Dynasty album which also feature Ghostface Killah and others!
Early in 2013 Eshon signed with Humble Beast Records and is gearing up for his official debut with the label!
