Pigeon Hole
PIGEON HOLE
Pigeon Hole are two Vancouver Island based producer/mc/dj's with a constant evolving sound and ability to crank out next level music. Their output as members of Sweatshop Union is evidence of leaps in style, delivery and approach from album to album.
In 2010, Pigeon Hole released their critically acclaimed debut LP, Age Like Astronauts. Using the MPC 2000, they pieced together a mix of samples, analogue synths, live instruments, and sharp lyricism - their debut outing spoke to listeners from the opening note to its final fade out.
Trading in their original blueprint for a heavier bass-driven electronic sound, Pigeon Hole attack with all new artillery. ‘Chimp Blood’, their ¬newest album, thrashes over a foundation of grimey synths, sampled and chopped over machine gun drum programming, 808s, and massive bass.
Both albums garnered big critical success. They earned a WCMA nomination for rap album of the year. They also spent months on the national college radio charts, and held the number one spot for weeks.
Quickly building a name for themselves and their exciting blend of Hip Hop and electronic music, Pigeon Hole are showing up on more and more major festival line ups. In the past six months alone, Pigeon Hole have been blowing crowds away with their high energy performance on bills like Shambhala, SXSW, Emissions, Tall Tree, CMW and throughout cities across North America.
Pigeon Hole should be on all radars. The hype is contagious. Everything is in place, and the dominos are falling fast. The music speaks for itself and delivers a sound so powerful it’s impossible to ignore.
