GRAND ANALOG

66158

Grand Analog is a group of record collectors, musicians and self described beat junkies. You can easily find any of the GA crew DJing at various clubs around Toronto or Winnipeg. The Grand Analog sound is a beautiful mess of rap'n'roll, dub and soul.

Each personality in this collective brings something unique to the table. Odario and DJ Ofield blame their father, a reggae DJ from the 80s, for cursing them with the love of music, bass and trouble. DJ Catalist was also born into a musical family, inheriting a vintage collection of analog keyboards and an uncanny resemblance to Frank Zappa. Warren Bray is the secret sauce on bass and TJ Garcia trips the light fantastic behind his drum kit.

The band’s critically acclaimed albums, “Modern Thunder”, “Metropolis Is Burning” and “Calligraffiti”, boast an infectious array of soundscapes. Their current album, “Modern Thunder”, features guest artists ranging from Saukrates, Shad and TALWST to Amanda Balsys of the Wilderness of Manitoba and Maylee Todd.

Grand Analog's restless feet inspire an extensive touring schedule. The live show adds soul to the bloodline along with frequent stage jams and off the wall spontaneity. Over the last six years, Grand Analog has left its mark on prestigious showcases and festivals such as SXSW, CMJ, Pop Montreal, the Halifax Pop Explosion, JunoFest, Breakout West and CMW plus shows opening for the Roots, the Herbaliser, K-OS, Big Boi and Kardinall Offishall.

In the first week of its release, “Modern Thunder” hit #1 on the Canadian College Radio Hip Hop charts and Lion Head hit #2 on the CBC Radio 2 charts. There have been over 30 placements of Grand Analog songs in films and television including such U.S. and Canadian television series as 90210, Criminal Minds, NCIS Los Angeles, the Finder, Continuum, L.A. Complex, Franklin & Bash and many more. “Grand Analog continues to sweeten its hip-hop cocktail by spiking the punch with everything they can get their hands on: blazing rock guitars, dubby reggae, wah-wah funk, Bo Diddley beats and even a smoking kazoo solo.”
