Chris Mitchell

Chris Mitchell has long been the instrumentalist many jazz listeners love to hear!

Chris is a phenomenal instrumentalist who is on the verge of changing instrumental music as we hear it today. Chris's sound has been a staple on adult contemporary and smooth jazz audiences, making him a household name.

Chris Mitchell is a fine player with an attractive sound (influenced by Kenny G) that often caresses melodies, putting a lot of emotion into his solos. Because he does not improvise much (sticking mostly to predictable melody statements), his music largely falls outside of Solid Jazz and into Contemporary, Latin, and Turkish Jazz ; In fact, Chris speaks Turkish fluently. However, since he is a saxophonist, he is classified as Jazz. Chris has performed for professionals such as Kenny G, Mike Phillips, and more!

Soon, he was heard by the Red Cat Jazz Cafe and began his Monday night shows in 2009. He was in demand for guest appearances at Turquoise, Sugar Land Town Square (Sold Out), and House of Blues. Chris's performances have sold remarkably well, particularly at the Red Cat Jazz Cafe, Just a few sold tickets behind great musicians such as Jeff Lorber and Robert Glasper, Chris Mitchell became the first local artist in history of Red Cat Jazz Cafe on Saturday night of July 14 2012, to have a SOLD OUT concert. Chris then went on to performing the national anthem for the Houston Rockets and Houston Astros, making appearances on ABC and NBC news, and attracting audiences of 500+ to his concerts.

His previous album Turquoisem, released in November of 2011, reaching many listeners in the South Central, Mid-West regions, and birthed a large following of fans; climbing to the highest rated Latin Jazz album in Houston on iTunes! Now, his newest album The Chris Mitchell Experience is highly anticipated by Jazz listeners and has potential of being one of the best live Jazz concert recordings. Chris can be seen at many live music locations in Houston, Los Angeles, New Orleans, and more. Looking for Smooth or Latin Jazz music? Chris Mitchell is a must to book and see. “I thank God for all of my blessings", says Chris. There is a difference between talent and a gift; talent is a skill that is learned, a gift is a skill from God, and without a doubt Chris Mitchell is gifted!
