The Melodic harness a beguilingly and unique sound; referencing their folk contemporaries whilst simultaneously recognising world influences, incorporating the Charango, Melodica, Autoharp and Kora to create music that demands a purpose built category of its own. The spirit of the likes of Belle & Sebastian, The Magnetic Fields, Of Montreal, and the Decemberists are touched upon but it is the reverence for past masters Paul Simon and Bert Jansch and the exploration of Latin America, roots reggae and even elements of the chamber pop movement that distinguishes this young British band from their peers.
