Listen to All ABout My Change

Rapid Ric “The Mechanic”, mans the pipeline of the Lone Star State's top talent, furthering the self-made legacy of Houston’s DJ Screw, Swishahouseʼs Michael Watts, Chamillitary (mentioned in the in 2007 as the 10th largest rap music earner in Forbes Magazine) and Slim Thugʼs Boss Hogg Outlaws.

Rapid Ricʼs Whut it Dew series, the first of which was hosted by Chamillionaire prior to his platinum d...ebut album “Sound of Revenge”, has solidified his niche as a trendsetter and tastemaker by progressing Texasʼ regional/ underground sound through his many outlets: (syndicated radio, satellite radio, his quarterly mixtape series, domestic and international DJ bookings, regional live performances, or his associated promotional street teams.)

Unlike most Southern mixtape DJʼs, Rapid Ric also spins at live events, including all of KDHT Hot 93ʼs concerts, two Austin weeklies and frequent New York City gigs. For the past 3 years he has been Chamillionaire’s official international tour DJ in North America and Europe, as well as Slim Thug’s DJ at the past Dub Magazine Car Shows and twice at the Quart Festival, attended by 35,000 people in Norway. He was also Devin the Dude’s Canadian Tour DJ, and spun at the All Star Game Jam Session in Houston as a promotion for EA sports.

One of few DJʼs focused on actual mixing, recording, and producing, Rapid Ric is currently working on projects with Chamillionaire, DJ Premier, SPM, and Paul Wall. He has garnered praise from these news outlets: The New York Times, Houston Chronicle, The Source, XXL, Scratch, Ozone, Hip Hop Connection in the UK, from numerous Mixtape Mondays on MTV, Univision coverage, and full-page local features in the Austin Chronicle and American-Statesman. Rapid Ric has worked and performed alongside Snoop Dogg, Kanye West, Bun B of UGK, Scarface, Too Short, Ying Yang Twins, Ciara, Paul Wall, Youngbloods, David Banner, Lil' Flip, Slim Thug, Lilʼ Webbie, Lupe Fiasco and Rakim.

While recording his debut solo album “Whut It Dew”, Rapid Ric has mixed intros for releases by Chamillionaire, Dope House records, Rap-A- Lot Records, Boss Hogg Oulaws, and has laid cuts on Chingo Blingʼs last single. In addition to the aforementioned talent Rapid Ric has collaborated with Grammy-award winning producer Carlos Sosa (musician for Kelly Clarkson, Jason Mraz) for his own album. A regular mixer on Austin's Emmis-owned KDHT "Hot" 93.3 FM for the past five years, Ricʼs weekly Mixtape FM show debuts Texas hits on Saturday nights, along with other regional stations who syndicate.
