Julia Nunes
With over 49 million views, Julia Nunes is best known for her charming, comical, and downright creative YouTube music videos. From originals that she writes to songs that she likes, the singer-songwriter wins over all she encounters with her engaging personality, amazing vocals and harmonies, mad ukulele skills (along with assorted other instruments), and the occasional surprise guest.
Nunes’ musical genius, which began with songwriting at age 13, has grown organically. Her talent has caught the eyes of many, landing her guest appearances with artists such as Ben Folds, Rivers Cuomo (of Weezer), & Ben Kweller. She has performed at the Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival (TWICE!) and has been featured on CNN, Billboard, Lefsetz Letter, Nylon and more. She made her national TV debut as a musical guest on Conan O’Brien in Jan 2012.
In July of 2011, her upcoming 3rd full-length album, Settle Down, raised $77,888 in fan-funding from Kickstarter.com – the record at the time for a musical album on the site. Settle Down is scheduled to be released on Nunes’ own label, Modormo Records, on February 28, 2012.
