Solander
Solander is a Swedish inventive trio making pop music with a folky touch and a playful approach. With the starting point in the Malmö underground scene, Solander emerged with its debut album “Since We Are Pigeons” in the fall of 2009 and toured extensively throughout the next year. In the winter of 2011 they finally had time to enter the studio again to record their long awaited sophomore album.
The songs we hear on “Passing Mt. Satu” differ a lot from each other and the impact of a lot of different influences is very clear. But everything is tightly bound together by the characteristic voice and picking guitar of Fredrik Karlsson, the personal and innovative playing of cellist Anja Linna and the driven rhythm section handled by Mikael Persson, former drummer of Scraps Of Tape. In addition to this there are also some unconventional banjo playing, prepared metallophones, haunting organs, distorted hand-claps, pianos, music-boxes and lots of other goodies spread out over the album.
