Neal Hannan

Neal Hannan is Senior Director and Associate General Counsel at Databricks, where he leads the Product Legal, Intellectual Property, and Privacy teams. Neal advises Databricks' research, product, and engineering teams on critical issues including data privacy, security, IP protection, and regulatory compliance. He played a key role in the development of DBRX, Databricks' open-source language model that empowered enterprises to build custom generative AI solutions. With a career spanning roles at the Federal Trade Commission, Fastly, and private practice litigation, Neal brings a unique perspective to navigating the intersection of innovation and regulation. He is a frequent speaker on legal challenges relating to AI, including a session at Data + AI Summit 2024. Neal is a graduate of Williams College and Columbia Law School.
