With an MBA and a strong entrepreneurial background, she has founded impactful ventures such as the Climate Justice Initiative and Saghani successfully building and managing multiple climate-focused funds.

As Principal of Velveteen Ventures, Karla leads a venture capital fund committed to investing in solutions that prioritize both environmental sustainability and social equity, with a special emphasis on supporting climate solutions and Indigenous communities.

Karla’s professional journey includes impactful roles with the United Nations Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues, serving as an executive for former Vice President Al Gore, and directing Patagonia’s Home Planet Fund, an innovative investment and philanthropy platform. Her extensive experience bridges sectors, fostering collaboration and driving progress in addressing complex social, environmental, and economic challenges.
