James Henry is the Deputy Warden for the Indiana Department of Correction. He started his career in 2008 as a Special Deputy with the St. Joseph County Police Department. In 2010, he moved to the Juvenile Justice Center, working in the detention unit. He served as a reserve police officer for New Carlisle and Lakeville, Indiana. In 2013, he joined the Indiana State Prison as a Correctional Officer and was later promoted to Correctional Caseworker 4. In November 2014, he transferred to the South Bend Community Re-Entry Center. He became Deputy Warden in 2019. James earned his bachelor’s degree from Bethel University in 2021. He is part of the Master Academy for evidence-based practices and completed the IDOC Leadership Academy and the Offender Workforce Development Specialist class in 2019.
