Ohannes Kandilian
Ohannes Kandilian is a dedicated pharmacy professional with 12 years of experience, currently serving as the Director of Pharmacy at Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital. He began his pharmacy career after earning a Doctor of Pharmacy from UC San Diego and studying Molecular Cell Biology at UC Berkeley. Ohannes completed a pharmacy residency at CHA Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center, gaining the skills to excel in various clinical settings.
In 2015, Ohannes joined Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital, driven by a desire to serve the community and restructure the pharmacy to meet clinical, regulatory, and supply challenges. He has served as Infectious Disease Pharmacist, ICU Pharmacist, Clinical Coordinator, and Pharmacy Manager.
Ohannes has led initiatives that greatly enhanced pharmacy operations. He created a residency and intern program, advanced technician roles, decentralized staff, and introduced IV compounding software. Notably, he maintained operations during the COVID-19 pandemic and facilitated the transition from paper orders to computerized physician order entry (CPOE) in the perioperative setting. He also oversaw the construction of a state-of-the-art IV compounding room.
His contributions extend beyond his immediate responsibilities. He actively participates in health fairs and engages with seniors at local centers to discuss vaccines and health issues, including the opioid crisis.
