Ron Garner
Ron Garner is president of the Puget Sound Anglers State Board, a member of the Billy Frank Jr. Salmon Coalition and a key member of the Western Washington sportfishing community. As a white fisher and head of the region’s most influential fishing organization, he admits in the documentary Life Blood “We’ve been fighting over the last fish for far too long and it hasn’t worked. We used to fight with the tribes. We don’t want to do that anymore.” In 2018, he had the rare honor for a non-tribal member – let alone a sportfisherman – of attending a Northwest Indian Fisheries Commission meeting and was called a game changer by the group’s chair. Ron is passionate about advocating for habitat restoration and reconnection in the Stillaguamish River watershed to promote healthy salmon populations.
