El Sonido was born 15 years ago as KEXP’s radio show dedicated to exploring the vibrant Latin American alternative music scene. Over the years, it has become a global reference point for discovering fresh and diverse sounds from LatAm, Spain, the Caribbean & the international diaspora.

In 2023, El Sonido Live! was born as a live concert platform, bringing KEXP’s experience to the stage. In 2025, for the first time, El Sonido Live! is coming to SXSW, with a special edition honoring the 15th anniversary of the radio show.
