How to Catch a Pirate: Behind the Scenes on the Fight Against Digital Piracy

Mar 9, 2025

11:30am – 12:30pm CT

Digital piracy can have devastating effects on film and TV creators, and it exposes unwitting consumers’ personal data to organized crime rings. Once the largest piracy ring in the world, Fmovies was shuttered last year after having affected film and TV creators, studios and consumers alike. This panel will dive deep into how illegal piracy operations build their businesses, how they affect creators’ copyright and intellectual property, what rights creators have in protecting their content, and how the MPA and ACE work to detect, deter and dismantle piracy rings. As a case study, we could talk about ACE’s successful efforts this year to shut down Fmovies in Vietnam, once the world’s largest piracy ring.
