What’s It Really Like To Be in a Documentary?

Date TBA

There’s value and power in documentaries, but subjects who appear in those documentaries often don’t understand what they're signed up for or have a collective voice.
For the first time, an unprecedented year-long study funded by the National Endowment for the Arts and the Ford Foundation asks subjects about their experiences. Would they do it again?
Join award-winning filmmakers, film participants, and research team members as they reveal and react to these findings, discuss the implications for makers, and share resources to support ever-evolving equitable practices.

Programming descriptions are generated by participants and do not necessarily reflect the opinions of SXSW.
