21st Century Animal Welfare: A Bug’s-eye View

Date TBA

50 years ago, “Animal Liberation,” radically changed our idea of animal welfare, inspiring generations of scientists and activists. While most consumers today agree that cruel conditions in factory farms are unacceptable, most consumers ALSO believe the animals they eat were well treated. In reality, 90% of livestock are still raised in factory farms. Insects are a new 21st century livestock, farmed as food for people and pets, feed for other animals, and fertilizer for plants. Join an animal welfare expert, insect farmer, and scientist to ask “Can we learn from our past to farm happy bugs?”
