Reel Money: Uncommon Motivations Behind Indie Film Financing

Date TBA

As streamers and other distributors continue to pull back on their acquisition spends, financing indie films has become more difficult than ever. Though most investors are concerned with the path to recoupment, some indie film backers have other motivations for investing in projects, such as social impact investing, taking advantage of certain federal tax deductions, or following a more traditional patron of the arts model. This panel will explore different types of investors, as well as their motivations, to better bridge the gap of understanding between producers and these types of financiers.
