Antone’s: 50 Years of Blues
B.B. King once said, “We that play the Blues owe him a lot."
In 1975, the late Clifford Antone opened a club in downtown Austin that helped spark a global Blues revival. Music pioneers were out of work, and Austin was without a dedicated Blues hub. Enter Muddy Waters, Jimmy Reed, and more, paired with Austin's best young talent like The Vaughan Brothers. Careers were born and revived, and unsung heroes got the spotlight. This panel celebrates those who defined the music and our city, as well as those still carrying the torch today.
