Does every mother count? Maternal health in the post-Dobbs era
Even before the Dobbs decision – which removed the federal constitutional right to abortion – was passed by the Supreme Court in 2022, more mothers were dying in pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum in the United States than any other high-resource country, and things have only worsened. Featuring a sneak peek of footage from a yet-to-be-released film about maternal health in the U.S., this panel will examine the state of play for mothers, families, and providers; why maternal health is so precarious at present; and the solutions that exist.
