Sailor Poon at The 13th Floor
This performance is part of the showcase that starts on Monday, March 10 at The 13th Floor
Sailor Poon was born in a musty garage-slash-bedroom, piecing together a sound that pulled from both proto- and post-punk, early Sabbath-style metal, and bursts of noisy, off-kilter energy. When their landlord threatened eviction over “sounds of elephants stampeding through the walls,” they moved out of the garage and into clubs. Since then, they’ve taken their brand of barely-controlled mayhem on the road, touring the country multiple times and even infiltrating the Austin City Limits Festival, proving that a band born in a dingy garage can, in fact, ruin eardrums on much bigger stages.
