Lukah at Mohawk Outdoor
Back with a vengeance, Lukah has teamed up with legendary New York producer and DJ Statik Selektah for a cross-continental LP that explicates and contorts the black American dialect through rich lyrics traded with a formidable lineup of guest MCs, including Grammy winner Killer Mike, Memphis legend 8-Ball, frequent homies and collaborators Stooky Bros and Sonny (Everyday Saints).
Lukah has established a name for himself among hip-hop purists for complicated and encyclopedic rhymes that remain heartfelt and true to his life experience. Across his discography, every new song adds another piece to the puzzle. His last project, Temple Needs Water, Village Needs Peace, drew heavily on jazz and neo-soul, with contributions from Billy Woods, Shabakah Hutchins, and Adrian Utley. On A Lost Language Found, he relates the experience of his great grandparents and their work in the political underground of the Southern 70s to the persistent issues faced by underprivileged communities in Memphis, interlacing monologues from a vibrant cast of local characters. The effect is like a documentary film.
