Curtis McMurtry at Saxon Pub
This performance is part of the showcase that starts on Tuesday, March 11 at Saxon Pub
Curtis McMurtry is a singer-songwriter, composer, and multi-instrumentalist from Austin, TX. Influenced by Fiona Apple, Punch Brothers and Tom Waits, Curtis' songs combine sinister lyrics with sophisticated orchestration, often featuring horns, strings, rattles, banjos, and bones. His most recent release, The Pollen & The Rot (2024) is the first of four forthcoming albums inspired by seasons, and explores themes of restlessness, rebirth and revolution; every character is coiled like a spring, ready to burst, and ravenous for change.
"Few songwriters in Austin prove as consistently provocative as Curtis McMurtry. Restless in style and adventurous in narrative, McMurtry’s work swivels through intricately composed Americana-pop, with jazz and classical flavors in exploration of complex characters wrapped in hedonism and redemption." - The Austin Chronicle
