JAWARI is a London-based interdisciplinary collective redefining the boundaries of Indian classical music, jazz, and poetry. Their music is a bold expression of the interplay between tradition and experimentation, weaving sitar melodies, Latin-inspired rhythms, and electronic textures into an immersive sonic experience. Sharing their debut album, ROAD RASA, live in the US for the first time.

At the heart of JAWARI is Tommy Khosla, whose approach to the sitar balances tradition with boundary-pushing innovation. Trained under Anoushka Shankar and Ricky Romain, Khosla combines a foundation in Indian classical music with a desire to broaden the horizons of this instrument.

For their SXSW debut, Tommy Khosla will be joined by Latin Grammy awardee and Aterciopelados (Europe) member Gregorio Merchán on percussion, Nashville’s first Youth Poet Laureate, Lagnajita Mukhopadhyay and Taylor Frost on guitar. The SXSW performance of ROAD RASA promises to be an immersive journey, where carefully crafted compositions meet moments of spontaneous expression. JAWARI invites the audience to experience their music live on a deeper level.
