Afterthought

Afterthought is a San Francisco rapper, producer, and songwriter who blends hip-hop, jazz, R&B, and soul into a sound that is both forward-thinking and nostalgic. Shaped by his experience growing up in the foster care and adoption systems, his music is built on the principle of Family First - a theme that runs through his storytelling, collaborations, and live performances.

Aft's debut album Communal Healing was named one of 2023’s best by NPR (KQED). He has worked with jazz greats Roy Nathanson, Theon Cross, and Steamdown as well as Bay Area rap legends including Nef The Pharaoh and Mistah F.A.B.

As the leader of the Top Chefs, Afterthought drives a high-energy live band that has performed on stages across the U.S., U.K., Europe, and South America, including SF MOMA, Golden Gate Park, The Midway, Barbican Hall in London, Chelsea Music Hall in NYC, and Hofburg Royal Palace in Vienna. Whether at festivals, jazz clubs, corporate events, or weddings, their performances bridge genres and bring audiences together.
