Two-Man Giant Squid
With their first two albums earning acclaim as cornerstone releases in the New York City DIY scene (Under The Radar, Post-Punk.com, Earmilk), Brooklyn’s Two-Man Giant Squid quickly became known for their ability to fuse art-punk, indie, and psych influences into a sound that pushes on the groundwork laid by James Murphy in the early 2000s. What began as a bedroom project of frontman Mitchell Vinokur, would soon evolve into a bold five-piece collective, leaning on matter-of-fact vocal delivery and eclectic songwriting structures to build high energy live sets and ambitious recordings. For TMGS, the lines between genres, or even between improvisation and design, are often intentionally blurred. Releasing their self-titled LP on March 7th to coincide with this year’s festival, Two-Man Giant Squid brings their signature freeform creativity to the forefront of North America's post-punk moment.
“...swinging from frenetic dance-punk tempests to poignant indie rock crescendos, the band captures and distils the renaissance of New York’s underground ethos...” – Under The Radar
