Quelle Rox
Quelle aka Rocky is a Latinx (Puerto Rican and Cuban) singer, songwriter, and producer based in Brooklyn. Originally from South Florida, Quelle grew up influenced by her Hispanic upbringing and the Latin culture of Miami. Listening to artists like Tego Calderon, Ivy Queen, and more, Quelle was a self-proclaimed chonga wearing big hoops with Puerto Rico written on them and neon Brazilian jeans. She wrote music as early as two years old, singing to her mom so she could write them for her, though she was shy to sing all her childhood. Her first show was in 2019 when she was asked to open for Homeshake’s sold show at Baby’s Alright. Since then, her glittery, ethereal performances have drawn attention. Quelle left FL to attend NYU on academic scholarship, where she taught herself to produce in Ableton, creating her signature sound inspired by an ethereal cosmos of nostalgia, blues, flowers, and stars. Often written in Spanish and English, she's carving out her lane of “Spanglish Dream Pop.” She says her music is Spanglish bops to cry to and vibe too, often vibey but with a sense of sadness, reflecting on themes of heartbreak, being the other woman, loneliness, anxiety, and depression.
