SAI is renowned as Japan’s RIOT GRRRL, influenced by bands like Bikini Kill, Alice Glass, and Savages, alongside hardcore punk acts such as Firewalker and Krime Watch, and hip-hop artists like Princess Nokia and Awich. Her lyrics convey deep anger toward societal oppression, advocating for equal rights for all genders and races.

Her latest release, Underwater Garden (Space Shower Music), led to a triumphant European tour. Based in New Zealand since 2024, she has embarked on a solo world tour and was featured in newspapers, solidifying her place as a standout artist in 2025.

As the frontwoman of Ms. Machine, SAI continues to attract domestic and international acclaim. In 2011, the band performed at Fuji Rock Festival, Japan’s largest music festival.
